Life at school

PARTICIPANT

It is normal for about half of the participants and leaders to be from Sweden. But the mix can look different from school to school. Increasingly, 5-6 different nations come together for three months. There are always Swedish leaders at every school where Acts29 Sweden is a co-organizer.

LANGUAGE

Depending on the country,  for example, the schools in India are entirely English-language, while the Latin American and Congolese schools are bilingual and interpret between Spanish or French, Swedish or English. At the schools that are interpreted, knowledge of the second language is not a requirement.

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation at Acts29 is simple but functional. On the base, girls and boys live separately, usually several in each room. Married couples are offered their own room. During the practice weeks, and practice weekends usually live at home with families or in churches, sharing with them.

TEACHING

During school time, we methodically go through the book of Mark and Acts of the Apostles. Each week we also work with a specific disciple topic, for example «Prayer and devotional life», «A life with the Holy Spirit», «What is a disciple?». The teaching takes place in the school or outside in the streets and parks. The ambition is that the distance between hearing and doing should be as short as possible.

PRACTICE WEEKEND

All participants are part of a team that participates in the work of a local parish every weekend. There, the team learns from the congregation and helps with, for example, youth work, evangelism, practical work, home visits and worship life. In short, what is needed and what is possible to help with, You also have the opportunity to share with host families.
